Since 1999, On-Farm Research have measured pasture growth rate on resident hill country pasture at Poukawa in Hawkes Bay. These data have been collected using cage cuts from the same three paddocks. Thus, the data produced is of total dry matter grown, rather than a derived pasture growth from livestock intake estimates used in some farm modelling and decision support tools. From autumn 2022, pasture growth data is also being collected from newly sown ryegrass/clover, plantain/clover and diverse species mixtures at the Poukawa Research Farm. Data will be collected at the end of each month from cage cuts and oven dry matters. The data is specific to the Poukawa site which receives an average rainfall of 750 mm. While all care has been taken in the data collection, persons using it do so at their own risk.
