Welcome to our page. Now that our project has been running a couple of years we want to start letting you know what we are doing. Our project is examining the effect of residual pasture left, pasture composition, form of added nutrients (fertiliser) and grazing pattern on soil health (soil carbon, soil nitrogen, fertility, water infiltration rate), pasture (amount, seasonality, species, quality), animal performance and net profit.
We started with some plot trials. This work has been going almost two years. We have been comparing three different diverse species mixes, a plantain clover mix with a ryegrass clover mix when harvested to two different residuals. Below is a picture of one of the diverse seed mixes.
